How a polaroid guest book works

1. Guests arrive and find the guest book table with a camera (or pre-printed photos — more on that below), pens, tape, and a sign explaining what to do.
2. Each guest (or couple, or table) takes an instant photo of themselves.
3. They stick the photo into the album and write a note next to it.
4. You leave your wedding with a finished photo album of everyone who was there.

That's it. It runs itself — no coordinator needed, and it doubles as entertainment during cocktail hour.

What you need

• An album with room to write. A scrapbook-style album with thick pages (kraft or white) works better than a slip-in photo album — guests need space next to each photo for their note.
• Instant photos. Either an Instax camera + film at the table, or pre-printed instant film photos of your guests (the no-camera option below).
• Pens that show up. Black and white gel pens for kraft pages, fine-tip markers for white pages. Put out at least six — they walk away.
• Double-sided tape or photo corners. Glue sticks get messy in formalwear. Photo corners look the most intentional.
• A sign. "Take a photo. Leave a note. Be part of our story." Frame it, prop it, done.

The no-camera version (honestly, the smoother one)

The camera-at-the-table version has a failure mode every married couple knows: the film runs out at 8pm, the flash confuses people, and a third of the photos are of the ceiling. There's a fix.

Pre-print your guests. You already have photos of the people you love — on your phone. Print your favorite photo of each guest (or couple, or family) on real Instax film ahead of time, lay the prints out on the guest book table, and let each guest find themselves, stick their photo in the album, and write their note next to it.
